Details that separate good from sloppy

  • Keep shadows subtle. A single large, soft shadow (roughly 40-60px blur at 15-25% opacity) reads as depth; heavy, dark, or double-hard shadows look like a 2010 web template.
  • Use PNG for UI, WebP/JPG for photos. Text and sharp edges compress badly as JPG (visible ringing artifacts); reserve lossy formats for screenshots that are mostly imagery, or for hitting a file-size ceiling.
  • Don't over-round the corners. A radius of 8-16px matches real OS window chrome; anything larger clips important edge content and starts to look like a sticker.
  • Mind contrast for readability. A busy gradient behind a light-UI screenshot can bleed into the padding; pick background colors that contrast with the screenshot's dominant edge tone so the frame stays crisp.

Are my screenshots uploaded to a server?+

No. The image is loaded into a canvas and rendered entirely in your browser, so nothing is transmitted or stored remotely. You can even use the tool offline once the page has loaded.

What export format should I choose?+

Use PNG when you need transparency or crisp UI text and lines. Choose WebP or JPG for smaller files, ideally when the screenshot is photo-heavy or you must meet an upload size limit.

Can I export with a transparent background?+

Yes, if you disable the gradient/solid fill and export as PNG or WebP. JPG does not support an alpha channel, so a transparent selection will render on a solid background instead.

How do I get sharp, non-blurry output?+

Start from a high-DPI capture and export at a 2x scale factor so text stays crisp. Enlarging a small, low-resolution screenshot will always look soft regardless of the frame or shadow settings.

What image sizes work best for social media?+

Twitter/X and LinkedIn favor a roughly 1200x675 (16:9) or 1200x630 card, so leave enough padding that the screenshot fills the frame without important UI touching the edges. Device-frame mockups naturally center the content for these ratios.

How is the mockup actually rendered?+

The tool draws a background (typically a CSS-style linear-gradient), then composites your screenshot with padding, a border-radius clip, and a layered box-shadow onto an HTML canvas. Export happens via the canvas toBlob/toDataURL API.
